ST. LOUIS HIGH SCHOOL

The Place for Your Saint!

Now in its 37th year, St. Louis Catholic High School, the only Catholic high school In the Diocese of Lake Charles, has been actively involved in its “Opening Windows” Capital Campaign to renovate and expand the campus to  accommodate better the ever changing educational requirements of the 21st century.

When the “Opening Windows” Capital Campaign kicked off in the Spring of “03, we announced an ambitious goal of $3.4 million. Reaching this goal would enable us to build new classrooms, upgrade existing classrooms, modernize our physical plant, construct a new library, update and build new athletic facilities, and unify the architecture throughout the campus.

The completion of Phase I of our Capital Campaign saw 17 classrooms renovated, literally opening windows, while adding a new Porte Cochčre (covered front entrance)  to the Bank Street entrance. Through the generosity of donors to Phase II, we have completed the conversion of the former industrial arts area into two classrooms, one with a physical science lab. The second floor of the historic Landry memorial gymnasium has been restored to include a lovely dance and cheer studio. A new Athletic Complex complete with shower/locker rooms, meeting rooms and coaches’ offices has been built with renovation to additional classrooms and installation of new windows in the Landry Gym. We have fully renovated the front office and the Art and Home Economics departments. We are elated about our new Landry Library/DeBlanc Multimedia Center which is currently under construction. This new educational facility is expected to open in January of 2008.

The “Opening Windows” Capital Campaign required the most comprehensive fund-raising efforts in the school’s history. We believe that the achievements of this extraordinary institution are but a prelude to a future of limitless possibilities. Thanks to the love and devotion of this community, we are getting closer to achieving our monetary goal. St. Louis is now selling bricks for the outside walkway leading to the new library/multimedia center. The school’s alumni and the fifteen owner parishes have been actively involved with the campaign. Additionally, the entire community at-large has embraced our efforts to build an even better St. Louis Catholic High School.

We have the opportunity to leave a legacy to the generations of students yet to come.  We must be visionary and courageous to sustain a legacy worthy of the long rich traditions of St. Louis Catholic, St. Charles Academy, Sacred Heart High School, and Landry Memorial. It is our determination to propel St. Louis to an unprecedented level of excellence.
